Counselling and therapy what to expect

When you need it most, as a BACP therapist I’m here to provide you with empathetic support.

But therapy goes beyond talking and listening.

I will help you gain perspective and clarity so you can make informed, mindful choices about the life you want to live.

We will work on deepening your understanding of yourself and where you may be stuck.

I firmly believe that you write your own life story. But it can feel hard to face things alone or make sense of the challenges life can present.

For me, the most rewarding part of what I do is seeing someone grow in self-insight and make changes in their life towards thriving. I’m curious, human, professional and compassionate.

I draw on a number of different theories in my work and can introduce you to a range of techniques and practices.

You can expect a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space.

We can all have times when we struggle – counselling and therapy do not need to be a last resort.   I’ve worked with many clients just like you.

🏳️‍🌈 I am an LGBTQ+ affirmative, sex and fat positive counsellor.

I am a fully qualified, registered BACP counsellor.

If you are interested in a more coaching approach, get in touch so we can talk through how that would work.

What can you help with?

If you’d like to understand yourself better, make a change, feel more at ease with yourself or get support through a transition, counselling and therapy can help.

I support clients with a range of issues such as:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Overwhelm
  • Depression and feeling low
  • Loneliness
  • Low self-esteem and low self-confidence
  • Relationship challenges such as difficulties with partners, friends or families, affairs and betrayals, separation and divorce
  • Attachment difficulties
  • Bereavement, grief and loss
  • Life transitions such as children leaving home, menopause, coming out, a relationship breakdown, a bereavement, changing career or city, retirement or something else. These transition periods can bring up a range of emotions that can feel overwhelming and bewildering

I can help you understand yourself better and make sense of your changing landscape.

Taking the first step

I appreciate taking the first step and making contact with a counsellor can be daunting.  It’s natural to feel uncomfortable or hesitant.  You may have additional questions.

Send me a message to arrange an initial chat. This is an opportunity for you to get a sense for how I work and I can answer any questions you may have. There is no charge for this and I hold the chat by phone or Zoom.

Got another question?
