FAQs

✴ What measures are you taking following the COVID-19 pandemic?

For in-person sessions (in M41, including walk-and-talk sessions in Urmston/ Trafford), I have undertaken a risk assessment. If you wish to attend an in-person session, I will send you my COVID agreement in advance.

I appreciate that not everyone is willing or able to attend in-person sessions. I continue to offer online and telephone counselling for anyone who prefers.

✴ What do you charge?

I offer both daytime and evening sessions on Monday, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Daytime sessions cost £50 and evening sessions cost £60. Sessions are 50 minutes.

I have two places at a reduced rate for students and trainee counsellors / therapists. Please get in touch for further details. I ask for payment on or before the session by bank transfer.

✴ Where are you based?

My therapy room is in Urmston, Greater Manchester (M41). The room is 9 minutes walk from Urmston railway station. I offer walk-and-talk at two locations in the Trafford area, as well as sessions by phone or Zoom. Please get in touch for further details.

✴ What is your cancellation policy?

There is no charge for sessions cancelled with more than 48 hours’ notice. If you need to cancel with less than 48 hours notice, the full session fee will be charged. The session fee should be paid before the original session time.

Where possible, a rescheduled session will be offered at no additional charge. If you are unable to attend in-person, we may be able to change to a Zoom /. telephone session.

✴ How many sessions will we have?

This varies from client-to-client and is entirely your choice. Some clients will come for a fairly short period (up to six sessions), others may attend much longer. We will review the duration of therapy on a periodic basis.

✴ How can counselling help me?

Sometimes it can be hard to process difficult emotions or make sense of the thoughts going round in your mind. Counselling gives you the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, supportive space, and not feel alone with them. Whether you are struggling with a single issue or facing a more complex situation, I will work with you to help explore your situation and support you with identifying and achieving any goals you may have.

What’s the different between coaching and counselling?

In truth, sometimes the line can be blurred. Generally, coaching is more about the here-and-now and future – moving you towards the life you want to live. Counselling focusses on the here-and-now, but may also look to how your past influences your present. My coaching training is based on executive coaching models; however, I also draw on existential principles in my coaching work.
